On 16 March 2024, in Pyi Char village (Myebon township, Mrauk-U district, Rakhine state), the Myanmar military stationed near Sa Hnyin village fired artillery rounds into the village at around 2 pm. An artillery shell struck a farm hut in the village. A 50-year-old man, his 30-year-old son and 23-year-old daughter were killed. His 15-year-old daughter was also injured.
