On 16 March 2024, an IRGC-affiliated fighter involved in drug trafficking threw a hand grenade at a regime-affiliated officer and policeman in the city of Deir-ez-Zor - Jubailah neighborhood who were attempting to arrest the former, injuring the regime officer and police member. There were no fatalities.
