On 17 March 2024, in Mrauk-U town (Mrauk-U township, Mrauk-U district, Rakhine state), the Myanmar military launched airstrikes on the town using a fighter jet and a Y-12 aircraft at around 6 am. The airstrikes hit Taung Yat, Shwe Taung, Kyauk Yit Kay and Kone Thei Tan wards. A woman from Kyet Hlyar Kyun ward was killed on the spot, while a man died on the way to the hospital. Over 10 others, including three children, sustained injuries.
