On 17 March 2024, in Lat Pan Pyar village (Pauktaw township, Sittwe district, Rakhine state), the Myanmar military stationed from Sittwe township and navy ships fired heavy weapons in the afternoon which fell and exploded into the village and killed a man and a 5-year-old child according to Radio Free Asia. Three locals including a pregnant woman were injured. Other sources, VOA and Myanmar Pressphoto Agency reported that a 25-year-old pregnant woman, a 50-year-old woman and her four-year-old grandchild, and a 27-year-old man were killed. Fatalities coded as 2 for the lowest estimates.
