On 19 March 2024, International forces (likely Turkey forces, due to their active involvement in conducting airstrikes in Somalia and support against Al Shabaab), in coordination with government security forces (SNA), conducted an airstrike against Al Shabaab position in Bagdaad village (Afgooye, Lower Shabelle) and Baldooska village (coded separately). The Government claimed 39 militants were killed, 15 were killed in Bagdaad and 24 in Baldooska. 21 civilians were killed, including farmers, and several others were injured in Bagdaad. Al Shabaab accused the Turkish forces of targeting civilians.
