On 22 March 2024, in Myebon township (Mrauk-U district, Rakhine state), the military conducted airstrikes with Jet Fighters and the military from (LIB-373) base and engineering base fired artillery rounds on Nyaung Kan village between 10 am to 5 pm, causing the houses, hitting and destroying some houses, a monastery and a school. Some military artillery rounds also landed on nearby villages, including Kan Htaung Gyi and Taung Pauk villages. Khit Thit Media reported over 20 monks and locals from Nyaung Kan village were killed. Another source Narinjara News reported over 10 locals from Nyaung Kan village were injured, including a 42-year-old monk, another young monk, a 17-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl. Fatalities coded as 0 for the lowest estimates.
