On March 11, in a joint operation, the East Khasi Hills and Ri-Bhoi Police managed to foil the attempt of Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) by arresting four cadres, to carry out improvised explosive device (IED) blasts in Shillong and Nongpoh in Meghalaya, reports The Shillong Times. The cadres identified as Ripnar alias Shall Lapang, Robinis Ripnar, Jill Tarang, and Shining Nongrum were arrested from Ri-Bhoi District in Meghalaya. The Police seized 15 gelatine sticks, 167 splinters (shrapnel inside the IED), a safety fuse wire, three non-electric detonators, and five mobile phones from them.
