DARAA, Syria (North Press) – An officer in the Syrian government forces was killed and a number of soldiers were injured on Sunday as a result of targeting their vehicle with an IED planted by unknown individuals in one of the towns in the northern countryside of Daraa, southern Syria.

A local source told North Press that government officer Yaser al-Zahab was killed, and four soldiers accompanying him were injured as a result of targeting the car carrying them near the town of al-Vgeh, north of Daraa.

The source added that the officer hails from Hama Governorate, central Syria, and served as an officers in the 112th Brigade stationed in the town of Inkhil, north of Daraa.

The injured soldiers and the officer’s body were transferred to the military hospital in the city of Sanamayn, northern Daraa, according to the source.

The targeted area witnessed an intensive military deployment after the incident, the source pointed out.
