On 6 March 2024, at around 11:30 am Sanaa time, Houthi forces fired 1 anti-ship ballistic missile targeting the True Confidence bulk carrier (IMO: 9460784) in the Gulf of Aden around 54 nm southwest of Aden claiming US affiliation of the ship. The attack resulted in 3 fatalities and at least 4 injuries, 3 of which were in critical condition at the time of the attack, as the missile struck the ship. The ship sustained significant damage forcing the crew to abandon it. Some sources claimed additional 3 crew members missing.
