Hundreds evacuated as WWII bomb found in Polish city

More than 700 people were evacuated on Wednesday after an unexploded bomb from World War II was found in the northern Polish city of Elbląg.

The city’s Old Town area was shut down as the bomb was removed and taken away to a military firing range, where it was detonated.

Police said 717 people had been evacuated from homes, offices and schools near the site where the device was discovered.
No one was hurt and the evacuees returned safely to their homes after the bomb disposal team finished its work, the interia.pl news website reported.
