On 29 February 2024, in Sittwe town (Sittwe township, Sittwe district, Rakhine state), the military Da Nya Wa Di naval base in Ah Nauk San Pya ward fired artillery rounds three times, hitting a market near Korean harbor in Mi Zan ward at around 8:30 am, killing 22 locals including four Rohingyas. Other sources, the Radio Free Asia, Myanmar Now, Shwe Phee Myay News Agency, and Narinjara News reported that 12 civilians died and 18 other civilians were injured. The military accused the AA of being responsible for the attack. The military transported some injured people to Yangon with aircraft for treatment at around 3 pm. Fatalities coded as 12 using the most recent estimate.
