On 29 February 2024, an IED of unknown origin exploded targeting an armored vehicle carrying STC 1st Shabwani Defense Brigade forces and the STC vice president of Shabwah in the Wadi Arma region (Arma, Shabwah). The explosion resulted in 1 injury. The vehicle was struck as it was on its way back from Arma to Ataq. Sources claimed that it was an assassination attempt targeting the STC leader.
