On 15 February 2024, US forces conducted an airstrike targeting Al Shabaab position in Jilib town (Jilib, Middle Juba). Al Shabaab claimed the airstrike killed two Cuban doctors who were held hostage by the militants but the claim cannot be verified. Casualties unknown.
