On 18 February 2024, in Hlaingtharya township (Yangon-North district, Yangon region), a homemade bomb exploded on a street in front of No.2 high school in Ward 12 at around 7 am after an 11-year-old Buddhist novice accidentally hit a plastic bag containing the bomb with his feet while walking to collect offerings. He sustained injuries.
