On 20 February 2024, in Tachileik town (Tachileik township, Tachileik district, Shan-East state), a bomb planted by an unidentified armed group exploded in a car stopped near the Bo Gyoke Aung San road in Wein Kyauk ward at around 10 pm, hitting and injuring a 30-year-old man. Myanmar Pressphoto Agency reported that some local news claimed the victim was a police sergeant. Other locals also claimed that he was attacked due to issues in his business.
