A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadre was killed in an encounter with security personnel in a forest near Burklanka village under Bheji Police Station limits in Sukma District of Chhattisgarh on February 22, during an anti-Naxal [Left Wing Extremism, LWE] operation by the District Reserve Guard (DRG), reports The Pioneer. Sukma Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiran Chavan said that after the exchange of fire stopped, the body of a Naxalite (Left Wing Extremist) along with a muzzle-loading gun was recovered from the spot. The identity of the slain Maoist cadre was yet to be ascertained.
