On 4 February 2024, a bomb planted by Malay Muslim separatists went off along a road in Ai Kuleng village, Si Banphot, Si Sakhon (Narathiwat) with the intention of targeting a forestry officer. The bomb detonated moments before a car, carrying officers from the Narathiwat Forest Protection Unit 1, passed by, preventing injuries but causing severe damage to the vehicle.
