On 7 February 2024, an explosive device planted by militants (coded as TTP) detonated near the parked vehicle of a PTI-backed independent electoral candidate and former MPA in South Waziristan district (coded as Wana (South Waziristan, KPK) ahead of the upcoming general elections. 5 people, including two PTI-P supporters, were injured from the blast. The candidate remained unhurt.
