On 7 February 2024, in Ramree town (Ramree township, Kyaukpyu district, Rakhine state), the Myanmar military launched airstrikes on the town using a fighter jet at least five times from around 12:30 pm. The military navy fired five artillery shells at the town at around 2 pm. The military stationed at the Thein Taung Kone pagoda also fired about 40 artillery rounds into nearby areas from around 9 am until 5 pm. Some houses in Laung Chaung and Taung Okkala wards caught fire and the airstrikes destroyed a two hundred years old Buddhist monastery in No.6 ward. The Brotherhood Alliance claimed that the military used chemical bombs in the airstrikes. Casualties unknown.
