Maharashtra Police seized a huge cache of explosives from the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) following an encounter at the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border at the Narayanpur-Gadchiroli-Kanker junction on the outskirts of Hiddur village in Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra on February 7, reports India Today. While the Maoists escaped after intense firing, the Police recovered items such as wire bundles, Improvised Explosive Device (IED) batteries, detonators, hooks for claymore mines, and solar panels from their camps. The encounter started after police officials received a tip that armed Maoists were camping at Hiddur village, seven kilometres east of Wangeturi. Police said the Maoists were camping there to take advantage of newly opened Police outposts at Wangeturi and Gardewada in order to carry out subversive activities.
