A Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) camp was busted and a huge quantity of explosive materials and ammunition seized by Security Forces (SFs) following an exchange of fire with a group of Maoists in the Budhakhol Forest area in Boudh District of Odisha on January 17, reports odishabytes.com. Acting on a tip-off about the presence of Maoists, the combing team launched a search operation in the forest. On seeing the force movement, the Maoists opened fire, and the security personnel fired back in self-defense. Following a brief gunbattle, the Maoists fled the site. During the search of the area, a huge cache of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), landmines, electric wires, and other explosives were seized from the spot. Some batteries, Maoist uniforms and literature, medicines, and other items were also recovered from the camp.
