On 7 December 2023, in Pan Aung Kone village of Thaton township (Thaton district, Mon state), three rounds of heavy artillery shells fired by the Myanmar military troops Artillery Battalion-314 landed in the village. The shelling killed a 46-year-old civilian from Ah Wun Gyi village who was riding a motorcycle. The shelling also damaged ten houses in the village.
