On 30 December 2023, in Maw Tone (East) village (Tanintharyi township, Myeik district, Tanintharyi region), a 45-year-old Myo Haung villager stepped on a landmine near No.306 military artillery unit while he was on his way to collect bamboo in the forest at around 5 pm. He had to undergo the amputation of one of his legs on the same day and another leg on 7 January 2024. Locals claimed that the mine was planted by the military.
