On 7 January 2024, in Ka Nan village (Tamu township, Tamu district, Sagaing region), the military conducted airstrikes by dropping four 250lb bombs with A-5 Jet Fighters two times at around 10:30 am, hitting and destroying a church, the BEHS (2) high school and residential houses. DVB reported that 14 locals, including 6 children were killed and 20 locals were injured. BBC News reported that at least 10 locals were killed. Khit Thit Media and Narinjara News reported that 15 fatalities were killed. Mizzima reported that 18 locals were killed. Another source, Khonumthung News reported 17 locals including 7 children were killed and 19 were severely injured and receiving treatment. A school and at least seven houses were damaged. Fatalities coded as 10 for the lowest estimates.
