On 24 September 2023, near Maw Hpawng village (Myitkyina township, Myitkyina district, Kachin state), the Northern Brothers People's Defense Force (Kachin State Revolution Guerrilla Force) attacked the No.503 military air base with two 90 mm and two 107 mm artillery rounds at 7:40 am. Khit Thit Media, DVB and Kachin News Group reported that artillery rounds destroyed two F7 military aircraft, a tower, aircraft storage and military higher official barracks. Myanmar Pressphoto Agency reported that artillery rounds did not hit nor destroy two F7 aircraft but hit a house in Auk Maw Hpawng ward No.5. There were no casualties.
