On 16 January 2024, a patrol of volunteer fighters (VDP) aboard motorcycles struck an explosive device likely planted by IS Sahel militants on an artisanal gold site, near the town of Seytenga (Seytenga, Seno). Two VDP were injured and a motorcycle was damaged.
