On 18 January 2024, in Minbya town (Minbya township, Mrauk-U district, Rakhine state), the Myanmar military launched airstrikes and dropped 500lb bombs on the town at around 11 am. A 32-year-old man from U Soe Tint ward was killed, and over 10 houses were burned down. On the same day, the military launched airstrikes on the town using a helicopter gunship at around 2:30 pm, injuring a 50-year-old man from Thea Tan ward and damaging some houses.
