On 18 January 2024, in Pein Pyit village (coded as Pein Pyit (Upper)) (Mogoke township, Pyinoolwin district, Mandalay region), the Myanmar military based at the Za Lat Ni military base fired more than 20 artillery rounds into the village indiscriminately at around 11 pm. A 30-year-old man and his 7-year-old daughter were killed, and two women sustained injuries. Some houses were also damaged.
