On 18 January 2024, unidentified forces (likely Houthi forces) fired at least 2 one-way attack drones targeting two commercial ships (names not disclosed) in the Gulf of Aden. There were no fatalities or injuries as the drones impacted the water near the ships. Two separate incidents took place, respectively, at around 9:30pm Sanaa time around 85 nm southeast of Ash Shihr and at around 10:00pm Sanaa time around 115 nm southeast of Aden. The attacks were not claimed by Houthi forces nor CENTCOM although it took place amid Houthi attacks against ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
