On 18 January 2024, ENDF fired heavy artillery from Wichale towards Wirgesa direction (Habru, North Wello, Amhara), killing one farmer and wounding three other persons. One of the injured persons was referred to Desse Hospital and was detained by ENDF at a checkpoint suspected as Fano.
