On 28 September 2023, in Wea Gyi village (Salingyi township, Yinmarbin district, Sagaing region), four military warships and 12 cargo ships sailed into the Chindwin River and fired heavy weapons toward the villages along the river at around 8:30 am and hit and destroyed a pagoda in Wae Gyi village. Over 10 houses were also damaged. Locals from the villages along the Chindwin River were forced to flee. Casualties unknown.
