On 24 July 2023, an Al Shabaab suicide bomber detonated his explosives, targeting government security forces (SNA) from the 14 October Brigade on parade inside Jaale Siyad Military Academy neighborhood in Mogadishu - Hodan (Banadir). The government arrested three soldiers for facilitating the attack. At least 25 were killed and several others were injured. Al Shabaab claimed killing 73 and injured 124 soldiers.
