Controlled explosion in Cambridge park captured on film

Explosions were carried out after a man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a regulated explosive without licence

One of two controlled explosions carried out in a Cambridge park on Saturday (January 20) has been caught on camera. Specialist explosives officers produced the blasts after a 40-year-old man from Cambridge was arrested on suspicion of possessing a regulated explosive without a licence.

Onlooker Ed Sutton captured the video footage of the explosion in Romsey Recreation Ground. A Cambridgeshire Police spokesperson said: "Specialist explosives officers carried out two controlled explosions on Romsey Recreation Ground in Cambridge on Saturday afternoon.

"It followed the discovery of potentially explosive materials at a property in Ross Street, off Mill Road, Cambridge. A cordon was put up around the ground to ensure public safety but has now been taken down.
