On 25 July 2023, in In Pin Thar village (Phyu township, Taungoo district, Bago-East region), a landmine explosion occurred while children were playing near a village library in the evening. Three five-year-old children and one 12-year-old child were killed and a six-year-old child and a 50-year-old man sustained injuries. Locals claimed that the landmine was planted by the military as the military frequently came to the village.
