On 27 July 2023, a booby-trapped vehicle planted by IS members exploded in Sayyeda Zeinab in Rural Damascus, killing eight people including a woman and two non-Syrian people, and injuring twenty others including women and children. On 29 July 2023, two additional individuals succumbed to the wounds they sustained during the explosion. On 15 August, a six-year-old child died from injuries sustained. 11 fatalities.
