On December 25, three Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres, including Soma Mandbi and Laxman Kurami, were killed in an exchange of fire during the joint operation of the District Reserve Force (DRG) and Bastar Command that took place in Tumkapal forest on the border of Sukma and Dantewada Districts of Chhattisgarh, in Malkangiri District of Odisha, reports KalingaTV. Also, Police recovered three guns and a large amount of Maoist materials
