Undefined Explosive Device (UED) event in Odisha, Gumudaput in Koraput District area, India on Thu 28th December 2023

On December 28, a huge cache of explosives was recovered as the police busted a hideout of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) during a combing operation conducted by a joint team of District Police, District Voluntary Force (DVF), and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel in the Gumudaput jungle in Machhkund Police Station limits in Koraput District of Odisha, reports Orissa Post. The seized explosives, concealed by the Red Rebels, include 15 guns, 17 tiffin bombs (eight weighing around 7 kg and nine weighing 3 kg), two detonators, codex wires of 50-meter length, one steel box, two empty tiffin boxes, and other explosives. Police suspect that the explosives may have been stored there by the ‘Andhra Orissa Border Special Zonal Committee (AOBSZC)’ and were intended to be used against innocent civilians and Security Forces (SFs) to carry out their subversive, anti-national activities and to establish Maoist presence again in the area.
