At least four cocktails exploded in different areas of Comilla town on Friday night.

According to local sources, the cocktails exploded in the city's Tomsa Bridge area at around 8:30pm. After some time, blasts were reported in the city's Goal Patti, Kandirpar district BNP office and Ranir Bazar areas.

Police seized a motorcycle and recovered three unexploded cocktails from the spots.

Cocktail blasts were also reported in front of the Chamber of Commerce office, Faujdari intersection, Salauddin intersection, in front of Tower Hospital and Ramghatla Awami League office.

Comilla Kotwali model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Firoz Hossain said: "We have confirmed cocktail explosions at three locations. Those who want to disrupt the election might be behind these incidents. Law enforcement agencies involved in maintaining order are working on the field. We are trying to identify the miscreants."

Residents of different areas reported the blasts. Many people also reported on social media that the explosions caused panic among people.

A resident named Sajib from the Tomsa Bridge area said: “After 8:30pm, two motorcycle riders arrived and detonated four cocktails on the street.”
