On 30 December 2023, Houthi forces fired an anti-ship ballistic missile targeting the Maersk Hangzhou container ship (IMO: 9784300) in the Strait of Bab el Mandeb after it ignored calls to alter course. The missile struck the ship but the ship remained 'seaworthy' and there were no fatalities or injuries.
