On 30 December 2023, suspected Israeli warplanes targeted several pro-Iranian militia positions in Al-Bukamal and its badia in rural Deir ez Zor, including in the Al-Bukamal - Industrial Zone. Targets included a military convoy entering Syrian territory from Iraq in rural Al-Bukamal, a military shipment, and pro-Iranian militia and IRGC-affiliated positions including an ammunition depot and vehicles in Al-Bukamal city and rural Al-Bukamal, killing 21 fighters including ten IRGC and pro-Iranian militia members of various nationalities. 21 fatalities split as follows: 11 Al-Bukamal and 10 Al-Bukamal - Industrial Zone. 10 fatalities.
