On 31 December 2023, in Kaing Gyi (Mro) village (coded as Kaing Gyi (NaTaLa)) (Maungdaw township, Maungdaw district, Rakhine state), Myanmar military troops from the Maw Ra Waddy strategic hill fired artillery rounds indiscriminately into the village at around 8:30 am. Some artillery shells landed on the village main road, injuring two women and a man.
