On 3 January 2024, in Sagaing town (Sagaing township, Sagaing district, Sagaing region), a bomb belonging to an unidentified armed group exploded in a trash pile beside the railroad in Ni Lar ward during the morning, hitting and killing a 7-year-old plastic picker and injuring his 32-year-old mother, 45-year-old grandpa, another 3-year-old child.
