On 3 August 2020, unidentified warplanes carried out airstrikes on Iranian and pro-Iran positions in al Bukamal desert, including the Imam Ali Base, near al Sekka, and in the Green Belt area. At least 15 militiamen of Iraqi nationality were killed and several others were wounded. The strikes destroyed positions and ammunition warehouses.
