On 25 December 2023, in Mrauk-U town (Mrauk-U township, Mrauk-U district, Rakhine state), the military (IB-540 and 377) fired artillery rounds and some of the rounds landed on Sin Cha Seik ward, hitting and killing a man and injuring 3 other locals according to DVB. Narinjara News reported that a 30-year-old teacher and his 55-year-old mother from Sin Cha Seik ward were killed due to the military's artillery rounds. Also, some artillery shells exploded in the Nyaung Pin Zay ward, destroying the Mrauk-U archaeological museum. Fatalities coded as 2 for the most up-to-date estimates.
