On 6 August 2020, opposition rebels shelled Russian forces positions on Kansaba frontlines in Lattakia countryside, injuring several Russian soldiers. Unconfirmed reports suggests that a number of Russian soldiers were killed. Unknown number of fatalities coded to 10.
