On 27 December 2023, in Thea Kaw village (Kyauktaga township, Bago district, Bago-East region), the military (LIB-439 and 309) fired artillery rounds at around 4 am and some of the rounds landed on the Thea Kaw village monastery, hitting and killing an abbot. Ministry of Defense - NUG reported that another local was also killed due to the military's artillery rounds. Fatalities coded as 2.
