On 17 December 2023, clashes between SAF and RSF continued in Shaabi (Popular) market and Al Andalus, Al Riyadh Al Qadissiya, Banat, Esheir, and Al Dibagha neighborhoods in Wad Medani (Medani Al Kubra, Al Jazirah), with artillery shelling being reported. An unspecified number of civilians were injured. RSF forcefully removed civilians from their houses in Al Riyadh Al Qadissiya neighborhood and set up snipers on buildings in blocks 4 and 6. RSF also looted vehicles and houses.
