On 18 December 2023, Houthi forces fired 2 one-way attack drones and 1 anti-ship ballistic missile at commercial ships -- Swan Atlantic chemical/oil products tanker (IMO: 9790464) and MSC Clara container ship (IMO: 9708693) -- near the Strait of Bab el Mandeb claiming that they ignored calls to alter course. There were no fatalities or injuries. A first drone exploded in the water off the MSC Clara while the Swan Atlantic was later struck by a drone and a missile leading to damage on the ship.
