Grenade event in Meta, Acacias area, Colombia on Mon 18th December 2023

On 18 December 2023, near Acacias municipality (Meta), unidentified individuals on a motorcycle threw an explosive device at the Ocoa toll station on the Acacias-Villavicencio road. The explosion caused structural damage in the area but resulted in no injuries. This was the second attack against tolls in the department of Meta on the same day. The commander of the military forces attributed the attack to members of the Second Marquetalia dissident faction, arguing that the group has the intention of increasing its control over the center of the country. There was a similar grenade attack against El Boqueron toll on December 11, also on the road between Bogota and Villavicencio (coded separately). There were no casualties.
