On 21 December 2023, in Kawt Ka Mei village (Bilin township, Thaton district, Mon state), two unidentified armed men on a motorcycle hurled a grenade into a parking lot while a religious festival was taking place at the Koe Na Win pagoda at around 10 pm. According to Khit Thit Media, the festival was organized by the military, the BGF and the Pyu Saw Htee. A 17-year-old boy was killed on the spot, while four other men sustained injuries.
